About IO

Motivations: Why IO Exists

IO is meant to help all people and groups to communicate and organize inclusively, accessibly and , using tools and techniques which can be scalably optimized for current conditions and effectively expanded, contracted or adjusted in the future. IO is meant to counter, and to marginalize, modern bureaucracies which gather coercive political and economic power while externalizing immense costs to workers, consumers and ecosystems. IO is deeply based on partnership, especially (but not exclusively) peer-to-peer relationships, instead of (our dominant) domination culture.

IO can be used in countless ways, but it prioritizes inclusivity over freedom per se. We believe that IO will strongly favor inclusive communities and commons-building over the many violent, dominating, deceptive and confusing forces which thrive within and beyond globally hegemonic systems and institutions.

“You never change things by fighting the existing reality.
To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.” --Buckminster Fuller

We want and need feedback on IO! We’d especially appreciate if feedback reflects these framing questions:

1. Does this tool or technique create or enhance an ability for people to communicate or organize?
2. If this tool or technique restricts an ability to communicate or organize, should that limitation be technically imposed or developed as a community standard?
3. Does this technology promote inclusive pathways to participating in available activities?
